After about 2 months after release, Fall Creators Update is already on more than half of the PCs in use.
The growth line for the Fall Creators Update seems to be much steeper than it was for its predecessor, but not as steep as for the Anniversary Update.
Having said that, the older versions of Windows 10 seem to be lingering around much longer which eats into the market share of the newer releases.
Note: we don't have the data for the initial rollout of the first update to Windows 10 (1511, also known as Threshold 2). So it's a straight line from 0 to the first data point we have on August 22nd, 2016.
The update cycle is clearly uneven around the globe. Western Europe is leading the way with more than 60% running FCU in many countries. Africa and South America are upgrading at a slower pace with many countries still at only ~30% FCU.
Finally, let's take a look at most popular PC brands in different markets...
Only 3 brands (HP, Lenovo, and Asus) make the top-5 list in all the markets we cover here. HP is at the top almost everywhere except for Russia. Dell is second in US and India, but only fifth in biggest European markets and not even in top-5 in Russia.
This report is based on data collected from around 5,000 Windows Store apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2 (and higher). The raw data analyzed was collected over the day of December 20th, 2017 (UTC time) unless otherwise stated.
We have made every attempt to consolidate different reported phone model names under their canonical retail model names, but it is possible that some of the rare model name variations were not accounted for.
AdDuplex is the largest cross-promotion network for Windows Store apps and games empowering developers and publishers to promote their apps for free by helping each other. AdDuplex was established in January 2011 in Vilnius, Lithuania. More than 10,000 apps actively use AdDuplex to gain more visibility and monetize their ad space.
