After a month and 10 days on the market, Fall Creators Update is installed on every fifth PC.
This month, we take a look at Fall Creators Update growth after one full month in the wild.
After a month and 10 days on the market, Fall Creators Update is installed on every fifth PC.
Fall Creators Update is spreading a bit faster than its predecessor Creators Update. After 1.5 months on the market, Creators Update was installed on 18.1 of PCs, while FCU got to 20.5% in shorter time.
Having said that, two releases old version of Windows 10 (1511) was at just 4.6% at this point in CU lifecycle, while Anniversary Update (1607) is still at 13.7% for Fall Creators Update.
Note: we don't have the data for the initial rollout of the first update to Windows 10 (1511, also known as Threshold 2). So it's a straight line from 0 to the first data point we have on August 22nd, 2016.
Microsoft is clearly following a different pattern for FCU than it did of Creators Update on their own devices. Surface PCs are well ahead of the global average for Fall Creators Update penetration.
Global PC manufacturer chart remains pretty much unchanged from 2 months ago with only minor fluctuations in shares.
The new Surface Pro continues to gain market share and is now at #4 with 9.2%. It still has ways to go to until it surpasses its older Pro siblings, but it's quite likely to take the bronze from Surface 3 next month.
Surface Book 2 makes a debut with 0.4%. Time will tell how it stacks up with the original Surface Book and cheaper Surface alternatives.
This report is based on data collected from around 5,000 Windows Store apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2 (and higher). The raw data analyzed was collected over the day of November 27th, 2017 (UTC time) unless otherwise stated.
We have made every attempt to consolidate different reported phone model names under their canonical retail model names, but it is possible that some of the rare model name variations were not accounted for.
